Gao Jiwu

Mr. Gao was born into a famous martial arts family in Beijing, China in 1942.He has followed the family's traditional study of Wushu since he was 7 years old. Grandfather Gao Wen Cheng was a direct disciple of Yin Fu and Liu De Kwan (Nickname: Big Spear). Both these famous masters are direct disciples of Bagauzhang's founder Dong Hai Chang (1798-1882). Mr. Gao's father, Ji Ying, was an important and famous Baguazhang Master teaching numerous students from all over China.

Mr. Gao has been continuing his family tradition in China studying and teaching Wushu for over 50 years. As a child he was taught a foundation of styles including Longfist, Broadsword, Spear and sword in his early years. He then began an intensive study of Baguazhang, Xingyi Quan and Taijiquan under the watchful eyes of his father. His expertise and understanding of Baguazhang and the methods of the 64 palms for practice and combat is extensive and unique. He has appeared on television and educational videos on Bagua and has taught at all levels both to Chinese as well as foreign students some of who have been gold medalists in competitions - these being, for him, his greatest personal achievements.
